Murchison Drilling Schools (MDS) is proud to introduce our newest course: Deepwater Operational Transitions. The three-day course is designed to assist experienced surface personnel, from Assistant Driller through Toolpusher, in making the change to deepwater. This course is designed to expose individuals to not only the different and unfamiliar systems such as motion compensators and BOP control systems but also explain the shift in thinking that is necessary for successful, deepwater operations.
The course will be taught by Willie Lyon. Willie is a Petroleum Engineer out of Texas A&M, who has over 43 years experience offshore, including both land and offshore. His offshore experience includes platforms, jack-ups, semi-submersibles and drillships. This experience gives him unique insight into the difficulties fixed structure personnel have in transitioning to the deepwater environment, no matter how experienced they are.
The course can be scheduled and taught as an in-house class through the remainder of 2009. It will be offered each month immediately following the ten-day Operational Drilling Technology and Advanced Well Control course at the MDS Training Center beginning in 2010. For more information about this course or to schedule an in-house class, contact Bill Murchison at billjr@murchisondrillingschools.com. |
